Course overview and learning outcomes
The GRI Professional Certification Programme is intended to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and expertise of sustainability professionals in applying the GRI Standards for sustainability reporting. Professionals complete a series of courses covering the fundamentals of GRI reporting, in preparation for a final certification exam.
After completing all courses, you become eligible to take the Professional Certification Exam.

Key facts about the GRI Certification Exam
- Exam Questions: Exam candidates will have to answer 40 multiple choice questions in one hour
- Availability: Once purchased, candidates can either start immediately, or take the exam at any other convenient time within one year
- Exam Scoring: The passing score for the exam is 75%
- Certificates and recognition: After passing the exam, the candidate will receive a certificate of achievement from GRI, awarding the candidates the status of ‘GRI Certified Sustainability Professional’
- Pricing: The price of the exam is €350. GRI provides a 25% discount to GRI Community Members.
- Refund: Within 14 days candidates that have not yet accessed their purchased exam can receive a full refund

How to Maintain The Credential
Your certification as a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional can be renewed within 2 years by taking continuing education units (CEUs).
