Ikea says in fiscal year 2015 there was a 29% rise in sales of products contributing to a more sustainable life at home for consumers
Ikea is committed to enabling more customers to live more sustainably. One way Ikea measures its impact is by tracking the sales of products that Ikea categorizes as enabling a more sustainable life at home. The range continues to grow, keeping Ikea on track to achieve its goal of a fourfold increase in the sales of products for a more sustainable life at home by the end of FY20, compared with FY13. In FY15, these sales more than doubled compared to FY13, to EUR 1,311 million, bringing Ikea half way to achieving its target. This is partly as a result of additional products being classified which has increased the number of products in scope.
“We want to become resource and energy independent which means helping to transform the industry for our key raw materials like cotton and wood, investing in renewable energy and becoming more efficient in operations and supply chain is our goal,” Ikea spokesperson Mona Astra Liss says. “This means making every product more sustainable while keeping the quality, function, form and affordability our customers love.”
